Loved, Hated, Printed, Chucked Out

Since 1907 the Swiss National Bank has been responsible for eight series of notes, called issues. The very first of them printed, and the 4th and 7th were mere substitutes that never went into circulation. A total of 30 different Swiss banknotes have been in circulation up to now.
On bank note design mammon and the muses meet and the design concept is always of political significance and an testimony to the ever changing spirit of the times. Periods of traditional values were followed by progressive thinking and vice versa.
Every single note, every series, was much loved - or much hated.
