03: Sicily, Syracuse, Tetradrachm, with the head of Arethusa

The second slide shows the same type of coin in color, and I like it more, tough it is actually a black and white picture that has been colored by hand. Max Hirmer made the photograph during the Second World War for his little book "Die schönsten Griechenmünzen Siziliens" (The Prettiest Greek Coins of Sicily), which he also wrote. I prefer this enlargement for its representation of feminine beauty. I believe this photograph is a lasting masterpiece.
