This coin is a masterpiece of the famous artist and die cutter Eukleidas, who worked for the mint of Syracuse between 410 und 405 BC. His works were widely known and very popular during the 4th century BC. Eukleidas supposedly was the first to depict a deity an face: Pallas Athena with flying hair. The reverse shows a juvenile horseman.
