back

Russian Empire, Peter I the Great, Kopeck 1713 (obverse) Russian Empire, Peter I the Great, Kopeck 1713 (reverse)

From 1535 to 1719, the Russian kopecks bore the same images: On the obverse the tsar on horseback with the lance thrust downward, and a legend indicating the title and the name of the issuer in old Cyrillic letters – here, Tsar Peter Alexeyevich. The translation of the inscription on the reverse read "Ruler of all Russia." The scripture in the middle of the field gave the denomination on two lines – KO / PEIKA – with the Cyrillic date below, here 1713.
