This British 2-pound coin was first issued in 1998. It was the first bi-metallic coin for circulation in Britain since the end of the 17th century. The coin consists of an outer gold-colored nickel-brass ring, and an inner silver-colored copper-nickel disc. The reverse of the coin bears diverse rings symbolizing technological development from the Iron Age, through the Industrial Revolution and the Electronic Age to the Internet. The obverse depicts the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II (since 1952).
