Swiss Confederation, 2 Rappen 1948

Swiss Confederation, 2 Rappen 1948 (obverse) Swiss Confederation, 2 Rappen 1948 (reverse)

Until the end of 1977, the Swiss currency included pieces of two rappens. They were demonetized on January 1, 1978, because price differences of less than 5 rappens had become exceptional. Besides until the end of 2006, one rappen coins were in circulation. The coins worth one and two rappens both showed the same motif: The numeral of value over an ear on the obverse, and a Swiss cross on the reverse. This coin image was applied only in 1948, however. Before that time, the Swiss minor coins bore the Swiss crest and a liberty hat on the obverse.
