Understanding China is of great importance for Switzerland, yet public debate is often shaped by geopolitical perspectives and tends to overlook the views of people living in China themselves. The Asia Society China Fellowship, supported by the MoneyMuseum, addresses this gap by providing regular insights into the thinking of contemporary China—particularly its younger generation—through the work of journalist and podcaster Qing Wang. Through public events, podcasts, and a quarterly column, the fellowship offers a deeper and more nuanced understanding of the social, cultural, and intellectual currents shaping China today.
Demokratis.ch makes public consultation processes at both the federal and cantonal levels understandable, transparent, and accessible to everyone, thereby strengthening democratic participation long before parliamentary decisions are made. At the same time, the central collection of these submissions creates a valuable body of data that can provide new insights into public concerns, patterns of political engagement, and long-term social developments.
The works published by Matthes & Seitz Berlin on Indigenous perspectives and anthropological classics open up alternative ways of understanding nature, community, prosperity, and knowledge, while challenging some of the fundamental assumptions of Western modernity. They demonstrate that concepts such as progress, property, and rationality are not universal truths, but culturally shaped ideas that vary across societies and worldviews.
