The euro coins of the Republic of Ireland all show a harp. This is a traditional instrument of Irish music and represents the Celtic heritage of Ireland: bards and druids already played the harp. As a symbol for Ireland, it features on Irish coins since 1534. The country name is given as Eire on the coins, in the national Gaelic language.
